Christmas is only three days away but there is still time to turn your gift wrapping into a puzzle! I like the iconic red and green colors of Christmas but I wanted to switch it up with lighter colors this year. I also like the nostalgic feel of kraft paper covered presents and invited it to play with my pastel pink and blue gift wrapping papers.
Materials
light pink wrapping paper
light blue wrapping paper
pastel pattern wrapping paper
brown kraft paper
yarn, twine, floral accents, ribbon
tape
scissors
box cutter or X-Acto knife
Directions
Stack six unwrapped boxed gifts together to form a tower that you’re happy with. Then take apart and wrap the gifts with the light pink, blue and kraft papers. You can tie in the colors by cutting varying strips of paper and wrapping it around the covered boxes. For example the light pink strip around the patterned gift wrapping in the first photo below. Make them even more beautiful by wrapping yarn, twine, or ribbon around the gifts and topping off with a floral accent.
Once the gifts are wrapped, stack them on top of each other again to size up a Christmas tree cut out. Cut the tree large enough to span the top to the bottom of the tower.
Tape the tree on using double sided sticky tape. Then use a box cutter or X-Acto knife to cut the Christmas tree along the edges of the boxes.
Once the lines are cut, it’s time to decorate the tree! That’s it!
The kids can make a game out of this by disassembling and rebuilding the puzzle! You can alter the design by using another shape like a gingerbread man or a wreath instead of a Christmas tree. You can also get creative with the decor and use what you have on hand. With just a few gift wrapping days left, hope you find this idea useful and give it a try!
