Trolls Birthday Party

My daughter had a birthday and we threw a last minute Trolls party for her! With the baby arriving soon, I wasn’t sure how much time I could put into her birthday. But, mom guilt settled in since I usually try to make the kids’ birthdays special for their childhood memories. So, I got creative with supplies I already had around the house and used a couple of online shopping services to make it happen in a few days. We kept her birthday party small since the baby could be here any day and there is still the threat of Covid.

For the dessert table, I wanted to keep it simple but super colorful and fun like in the movie Trolls. I found this giant Poppy balloon that was perfect for the table. For the balloon garland, I tried to match the colors in the Poppy balloon and luckily, I already had all the colors in my balloon stash.

I kept the desserts simple with a homemade cake, cupcakes, semi homemade confetti cookies, and lemonade. My daughter loves it when I bake cakes for her. For the cake, I used a strawberry cake mix I already had in the pantry. I filled it with ready made whipped cream and fresh strawberries and covered it in more whipped cream. I also made a rainbow and flowers out of fondant to decorate the cake. Then, I topped it off with mini trolls figurines that she can also play with later.

Since I made a small cake, I had some extra cake batter that I baked into mini cupcakes. I frosted them with whipped cream and added our special confetti sprinkle blend.

We made the confetti sprinkle blend with a mixture of colorful sprinkles I had from past projects. It’s a great way to use up all those bags and bottles of sprinkles!

We made confetti cookies by dipping store bought cookie dough into our confetti sprinkles mixture before baking them.

Easy one of a kind confetti cookies!

For the drinks, I made fresh lemonade since I usually have lemons in the fridge and threw in some wacky colorful straws. These added instant color and fun!

With a little imagination using items around the house and quick online shopping services, we were able to put together a last minute Trolls birthday party celebration in a few days! As I was making the cake, my daughter said with a big smile, “Ohh, I love that cake. I think I’m going to have a fun time at my birthday party!” 😭 This made it totally worth the effort to make her birthday magical.
