Virtual Baby Shower

A Tea Party Theme

We are expecting soon and I’m so grateful for the group of sweet ladies who threw a virtual tea party shower for me! After thinking about the rise in COVID cases, I opted for the virtual shower for the safety of the guests. Since it was virtual, a couple more guests were able to attend including those out-of-state.

My sister, Mary was the lead planner and she did a fantastic job organizing this virtual shower. She really put her heart into making it exciting and memorable for me. I am so grateful for her love and to have her in my life along with all the ladies who were part of the shower. I’m sharing my virtual shower for anyone who might find it helpful to throw a virtual celebration for their loved ones!

A couple of weeks before the shower, she thoughtfully put together deluxe goodie boxes filled with an adorable teacup, saucer, napkin, fruit flavored tea bags, several pastries and a beautiful favor box for each guest. She delivered or mailed them out to make sure we would have goodies to snack and sip on during the shower.

In addition to my goodie box, she sent me a beautiful teacup and spoon to use during the shower and to have as a keepsake. She also sent a decor kit including a floral backdrop, a floral tablecloth, and a couple of teapot centerpieces to help me make it festive.

Before the shower, she asked all the guests to mail or deliver their gifts ahead of time if possible. I was very touched when the gifts started arriving in the days leading up to the shower.

Mary chose Messenger for our meeting platform since most people are familiar with it. A few days before, she created a chat room and did a trial run with a few people to reduce technical problems.

As I was setting up the decor kit and gifts night before, my daughter was so excited and wanted in on the fun! After everything was set up, she looked at it and said, “Perfect!” I thought so, too.

On the day of the shower, my daughter and I curled our hair and affixed our tea party fascinators. Mary asked our sister, Yeng to make a beautiful floral pin with ribbons that said, “Baby Mama” for me to wear as well. She also asked the guests to wear an optional headpiece or fascinator as part of the dress code.

It was so wonderful to see everyone online in the chat room at the same time in the safety and comfort of their homes. We started the shower by introducing everyone. Then, my sister-in-law, Kaonu made a beautiful and heartfelt toast.

We continued with some really fun games that my friend, Sheila helped prepared. I’ve listed them down below.

Who Knows Mommy Best?
Sheila sent me a list of questions to answer before the shower and created a multiple choice game for the guests. It was really fun to see how many people knew me the best since some things have changed over time. LOL!

Bingo Each guest drew their own 5×5 square bingo card on paper and wrote in a baby shower gift item in each square. As I was opening the gifts, they would mark it off their grid until someone got bingo. We kept playing until all the gifts were opened for more chances to win.

Best Headpiece I really appreciated all the guests for attending but I’m glad we played this game for those who made it extra fun by wearing a headpiece. After carefully looking at everyone’s pieces, I chose Der for her whimsical fascinator! It was so unique and went well with her Lacey pink tea party dress!

I really enjoyed the games and want to thank Sheila for preparing them. Also want to thank my sister-in-law, Kaonu for helping with prizes for all the winners!

Before the shower ended, Mary asked all of the guests to open the beautiful favor box which included a custom recipe card for my 10 sec royal icing and a recent photo of me. She also included a set of heart shaped measuring spoons, a small whisk, a floral mirror and hand sanitizer with a custom label. Everything about the shower was wonderful but this was my favorite part because of the thought, personalization and details put into it. This was the perfect party favor and I’m so moved by it since she knows how passionate I am about my blog. I really think Mary’s other calling in life is to be a party planner.

After the shower, my daughter and I had a little more fun and used the floral backdrop for a post baby shower photoshoot!

Honestly, before the virtual baby shower, I was a little nervous but it turned out amazing! Virtual showers and celebrations are starting to be more popular now. It’s a safe and fun alternative for family and friends to celebrate together and also allows those who live long distances to be included. I want to thank my sweet sister, Mary for her hard work and the ladies who took any part in planning, attending, and sending gifts with all my heart for their love and for going out of their way to celebrate with me. Thank you for making this mama feel special.
