My sister-in-law, Der got married earlier this year and I was so excited to help her bridesmaids throw a surprise pin up bachelorette party! She loves everything vintage and girly so I had a lot of fun with this one. It was an epic night spent with friends who truly love her. There were so many amazing ideas and these are some that my sister, Mary and I had the pleasure of putting together for her.
Since this was pin up themed, we wanted to include lots of vintage ideas into the decor and food.
We had a vintage inspired photo booth with shabby chic colors like mint and peach. The photo booth was from a DIY I found on here. I fell in love with the idea and asked my handy husband to build it for me. This photo booth has been wonderful since it’s easy to put together and to switch up the backdrop. I have used this for several occasions and still have so many ideas for it…the possibilities are endless. I went to my local craft store and bought enough mint colored fabric to span the length of the booth. I ended up sewing 3 panels to hang across the top. I had some peach chiffon laying around and made a vintage theater curtain accent for the top and sides. To complete the look, Mary got a cut of furry fabric from the craft store for our “fur rug”.
For the props, we went treasure hunting in thrift stores to find vintage pieces. We had a good collection of tea cups and saucers, beautiful handheld mirrors, and a picnic basket just to name a few. Mary went online and found a fancy French dial phone that we all fell in love with.
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself…I needed a photo with that French dial phone.
We used the fireplace for gifts and got a few vintage items from the thrift store like this poster and marquee star for the mantel.
Mary found some vinyl records at the thrift store and we decided to cover them with mint and pink card stock. They gave the perfect touch along the walls.
For the food, we went with diner staples like burgers, fries, milkshakes, and glass bottle sodas. To tie it all together, I made this easy custom marquee sign to put over the burger bar.
I promise the lights were not dead on the majority of the letters, they were flashing back and forth and the camera happened to catch only the last two letters. 🙂
We had a little area for fresh vanilla milkshakes. Luckily, I found these large mint colored paper straws at Target. I got these plastic cups and dome lids from this online store. Mary found these cute chalk boards from Micheals for 60% off. They were great for an old fashioned soda shop look.
We had so much fun throwing this bride-to-be a surprise pin up bachelorette party! I know for certain she had a great time. She looked beautiful, went through a time hop with girls who adore her, and made lasting memories during her final single days. Now, all that is left is to spend time and eternity with her James Dean. May you enjoy wedded bliss forever!
