Give this easy diy fidget spinner a try if you are looking for an activity to do with the kids or for yourself. Whether or not fidget spinners help with ADHD, they’ve become a popular toy. If you come across one for the first time, you can’t help but pick it up for a whirl.
I first heard about it from my husband who showed it off to me and just about everyone who’s come to visit. So since Father’s Day was coming up, the kids and I decided to make a couple of DIY fidget spinners for him. I used this homemade playdough recipe and ordered the fidget spinner bearings online.
Materials
rolling pin
figet spinner
box cutter
fidget spinner bearings
embellishments
hot glue gun
Directions
Take a ball of dough and roll it out with the rolling pin to about 1/4″ thick. Place a fidget spinner case or the actual spinner on the dough and cut out the shape with the box cutter. If you don’t have a fidget spinner, cut out a triangle and round off the edges for a different look that still works.
Remove the dough from around the cutout.
Place three pennies, one on each end of the shape and press them into the dough. Cut out the center to make room for the bearing.
Roll out three small balls of dough and flatten them to cover the pennies later. We added fish to this one since our daddy loves fishing.
Next, let them dry completely. They can be air dried but it will take several days. Or, you can place them in a 200°F oven for 10 minutes. You’ll want to turn off the oven and let the pieces sit overnight to dry.
Use the hot glue gun to attach the tops to the pennies on the fidget spinner. You may need to add a little hot glue around the outside of the spinner to keep it in place. You can seal your fidget spinner with varnish to keep it longer. Have fun customizing your own fidget spinners.
