Homemade playdough is an easy activity you can do with the kids. I made this for my toddler and she had fun discovering the texture and colors. It might have made me the favorite parent while it lasted since she is a daddy’s girl. Not only is it easy to make, the ingredients are non-toxic.
All the ingredients are edible if your little one is curious enough to sneak a piece. There are recipes where you can add scents or use Kool Aid but I wanted to keep it simple so my daughter would be less likely to eat it.
This is great if you are looking for some good old-fashioned fun in this day and age of technology.
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup salt
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 cups water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
gel food coloring
Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and stir to combine.
On medium heat, continue stirring until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the pan.
Remove the dough onto a cutting board or counter top and knead. Roll the dough into a ball and divide into four equal portions. Add in a different food color to each portion and knead. Store in an airtight container and it will last for months.
