This summer berry sauce was inspired by a fruit sauce I had with a dessert at a restaurant a few years ago. It was a very memorable and inspirational foodie experience. This sauce is simple to make and very tasty.
1 cup blackberries
1 cup strawberries
¼ cup simple syrup (1/8 cup water and 1/8 cup sugar)
½ teaspoon fresh lime juice
Make the simple syrup by mixing sugar and water together in a microwave proof container. Place in microwave for about 30-40 seconds and stir until sugar dissolves. Allow to cool to room temperature. Blend the blackberries, strawberries, simple syrup and lime juice in food processor. It should be the consistency of a thin smoothie. Strain through a mesh sieve and serve with blackberry banana ice cream or your choice of dessert.
